Braun Brita Patented KWF2 Water Filter (2-Pack)

Model numbers that this applies to3

As of 27 October 2002 this filter fits Braun Coffee makers models KF580 KF550 KF510 KF190 KF187 KF180 KF157 KF155 KF150 KF145 KF140 KF130.

If you go to the Braun Web site and want to search for your model coffee maker be aware that Braun thinks these are two word model numbers. Their search engine wants you to enter KF + 157 for the KF157 model.

The filters work. We like them more for the hard water problem than the chlorine issue. The filter does both well. Just pricey.More detail ...

Maytag UKF8001 PuriClean II Refrigerator Cyst Reducing Water Filter 1-Pack

Simple maintenance for your fridge4

You gotta hand it to Maytag - they made replacing the water filter very simple. Took all of about 30 seconds from start to finish. And about 20 seconds of that was wiping up the water that dripped out of the old filter when I pulled it out so the next change should go even better ;-)

We have a family of six and we drink water almost exclusively so I went ahead and changed the filter at six months just like the owner's guide recommended. However I could see no evidence that the filter was near its end of life and am convinced that I can get more use out of the filters than the suggested six months. I will try to keep an eye on things but without a little window I really have no way other than flow to know what is going on.

And that is why I gave this a rating of four stars. The filter seems to work wonderfully and replacement is a breeze but I would be happier if I could look at the state of the filter while it is in use.More detail ...

PUR PBSS Push-Button Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter Cartridge

ATTENTION: PLEASE READ REGARDING SEARS WHIRLPOOL & PUR5

It seems there are a LOT of misuderstandings in these reviews. If you own a Sears refridgerator it IS a Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid or whatever else with a "Kenmore" name plate on it. Sears doesn't make their appliances and they purchase appliance from varios companys and put their "Kenmore" brand on it. I have a Whirlpool fridge Whirlpool dishwaher and GE microwave. They all say Kenmore and the stainless stell matches perfectly. A Sears sales rep will tell you who makes the specific unit. This is true for Kenmore washers & dryers as well all appliance. Secondly Whirlpool Kitchen Aid Kenmore etc. do not make the filters. Sears Whirlpool etc. sell the filter with their markings on it. PUR make the filter. This is not a cheaper replacement for the filter it is the same filter. I have been using PUR filters bought on-line for 5 years now and it is the same filter that came in the refridgerator when I bought it. The only thing to keep in mind is that the "universal PUR Filter" that fits all push button in the grill units does not have the same filtration as the the specific PUR filter that comes with the fridge. For example the "Universal" filter is about $26 on Amazon and my fridge came with a PUR 4396710 which cost about $32 on Amazon. Both will work but the $32 unit filters out about 11 types of impurities the $26 unit is 4 types. I buy the 4396710 to protect my 2 year old and wife. What is $7 more when it's your family's health. They are about $50 each at Sears.

I hope this information helps clear up some misconceptions and helps people make an educated decision on what to buy.More detail ...

PUR DS-1800Z 2-Stage Water Dispenser

It was so nice I bought it twice...5

This is a great water filter and it gets plenty of use in my household. If anything I could say "I wish it held more water" (I drink 3+ litres of water a day and it seems that I am always filling the darned thing up) - but that would be an unreasonable request. Who would want a dispenser so large that it would be unwieldy to carry to the refrigerator? No one - not even me. So I bought a second one so that one of them is always full! This dispenser is slim so that I can easily fit two side by side in my refrigerator. (Can't have too much of a good thing!) And this filter/dispenser is definitely good - it has a large fill "basket" and the 2 stage filter produces water that is completely taste and odor free. I could easily tell the difference in my drinking water! Lastly the filters (with usage indicators) are long-lasting. I have filled my first dispenser twice a day for 1 1/2 months and it still hasn't reached the half way point. Very impressive results! Highly recommend.More detail ...

Culligan FM-15A Level 3 Faucet Filter

Very good filter5

I got my first Culligan faucet filter (FM 15) about 2 years ago after doing quite a bit of research. I finally chose the Culligan over Britta and Pur after reading Consumer Reports regarding their testing of water filters. The Culligan filtered out more impurities and the filter lasted MUCH longer than the others. Best of all it was cheaper back then I don't know if it still is.

I've been very pleased with the filter with one exception. At my old apartment I had great water pressure. I guess too great for the filter. After about 9 months of use the plastic casing started to leak. The good news is that Culligan warranties the filter so I just took it back to Sears (where I got that one) and they gave me a new one. Thus I still give it a five even with the problem since they warranty it.More detail ...

Brita 35503 Pitcher Replacement Water Filter Cartridges 3-Pack

40 gallons of spring-fresh water4

We always kept two boxes of these on hand as replacements when we used our Brita filter pitcher (we went to an in-line because we drink so much filtered water --we'd go through 40 gallons in no time but that is a LOT of water.) There are three "gotcha's" on these filters to be aware of:

1. Do not let the filter dry out. When the pitcher is empty you should refill the reservoir right away. When the pitcher is full or partly full the bottom of the filter is in the water and keeping moist.

2. The filter needs to be soaked and flushed exactly according to directions. Some of the charcoal packing comes off in the flushing process and if you don't take care of it you will have specks in the water. This is no big problem just something to be aware of.

3. Never put overly warm or hot water through the filter.

If you follow the directions you will have as we did gallons of water that cost a lot less and taste as good or better than the water you buy in plastic containers in the supermarket.More detail ...

Culligan FM-15RA Level 3 Faucet Filter Replacement Cartridge

Whirlpool 4396710P PUR Side-by-Side Refrigerator Push Button Cyst Reducing Water Filter 2-Pack

Works great incredible value overall5

I have a Kenmore refrigerator form Sears that I bought about a year and a half ago. Kenmore is actually made by Whirlpool and although the filter this replaced was labeled Kenmore this is the exact same filter but labeled Whirlpool instead. I looked it up on the Sears site and they wanted $50 for the same filter. The price is a steal and even though it says 6 months I used it for over a year since I have soft water in my house and only one person. My fridge has a 6 month built in timer that goes from green to orange to red when the 6 months is up. I thought it might be based on actual usage but it's not because it went red at exactly 6 months and I use far less water than most other households. I have no idea why more time would harm a filter as far as I'm concerned it's just a marketing tactic to get you to buy them more often then needed like oil changes every 3000 miles.More detail ...
